About

Welcome to the Home Page for the Mason Center for Health Information Technology (HIT) at George Mason University (Mason). The Center was formed in January, 2010 because of the pressing need to transform the current Healthcare System to meet the needs of all the health stakeholders — patients, physicians, laboratories, insurance companies, as well as state and federal agencies and governments — in providing high-quality care while containing costs.

HIT Center brings together a multidisciplinary group of experts in health policy and informatics; computer and information science; practicing physicians on the forefront of evidence-based medicine and healthcare automation; and industry leaders with proven track records in technology transition and knowledge transfer.

The Center brings together researchers and practitioners from the Mason’s College of Health and Human Services, the Department of Communication, and the Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering.
